Woodland Walk

Our Woodland Walk starts near the entrance gates into the cemetery, it is a short way from the large free on-site car park. It is a flat and even trail which will suit most walking abilities, people will have to be able to walk approximately half a mile. Notably, the walk winds its way right around the burial grounds, you will pass through lovely formal remembrance areas and alongside grassland and wild-flower fields. There is a pond with abundant wildlife and a nearby picnic area with seating where you can rest and enjoy the natural views back over the cemetery, a green wonder. The walk finishes in the Memory Garden where you can sit, contemplate and enjoy the quiet.

For children they can embark on a potentially captivating walk through the open landscape of the cemetery, they can look for the porcelain butterflies in the trees. You will be guided by or encounter enchanting characters pointing the way, and meet Miss Fair Isle, Barry Paragon and their friends. You will experience a unique blend of nature and storytelling as you wander the grounds, looking out for the ant's picnic, and the Dear Mum letterbox. Envelopes and paper can be collected from the Visitor Centre, when open on weekdays. The letterbox allows you to remember your loved one differently. You can write and post your special message.

The Woodland Walk is a family friendly adventure. Perfect for those who love being outdoors and want exercise whilst being close to nature. It is a safe place and environment to take a stroll around and enjoy. Dogs are more than welcome so long as they are respectful and kept on leads at all times. Please collect and responsibly dispose of their acts of mother nature.

Come and experience a cemetery that is a little different, it is not just a sad place. It is a place to come and enjoy and bring all the family.

The Woodland Walk is a sensory experience set in natural settings where you will find fragrant flowers and sounds of rustling leaves and birdsong.
